Dorade box repairs and access

The dorade boxes on my Caliber 33 are molded into the cabin top. I pulled the dorades off the other day and noticed cracks in the epoxy inside the box. Also the baffle that appears to be a plywood box is deteriorating. Without the ability to dismantle the box or remove the top, it will be difficult to make repairs. Has anyone had to deal with this before?

Unless you want to open up the overhead in the cabin, you may want to start by building a ship in a bottle for practice. The cracks should be easy to fix with a dollop of epoxygoop and a brush. The baffles will need to be removed and rebuilt. That's where the ship-in-bottle practice will be handy.

I haven't opened up the headliner, but suspect there will be only a small square or round hole to work through. The interior is a square teak frame with with bug screen. I need to remove that anyhow as there appears to be parts of an old mud wasp nest on the outboard side of the screen.
