Look around for 2nd hand marine stores. Here in St. Augustine there is Sailor's Exchange. There is also another large store located in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.< Sailorman New & Used Marine: The World's Largest and Most Unique New & Used Marine Emporium >
I found hinges for my s/v that were not available in regular marine stores. Some of the merchandise is brand new but the company has changed parts and no longer wants the merchandise.

Have you tried companies like Perko and ABI? I just changed out a mortised door latch set from Perko, the price was around $100. All the dimensions were still the same from 1975 except for the door catch..and all that took was a minor change with a wood chisel. The dimensions of boathardware does not change all that much over time...just some of it does occasionally.
Thanks for all the tips. Great Lakesskipper has a lot of cool stuff, including Perko door latches for $50. The second hand stores are a good idea too, unfortunately the closest one to me is in Newport which means crossing deepest darkest LA! Maybe there's one in the Bay Area?
