Deck Paint

I'm thinking about painting the non-skid areas on my deck from the dull blue to some yellow to brighten in up. I haven't seen one with it. Is there a reason? I am also renewing the teak and some other tweaks just to make it mine. It's a 1972 Irwin 23 in good shape.

I'm a newbie, so any input would help. Thanks

Re: Deck Paint

We painted ours with Rustoleum Almond, now we notice other boats in the marina are copying it. Guess we should have gotten a copyright.

Re: Deck Paint

I believe Kiwigrip is water based and can be custom tinted with any color at your local paint store.

Re: Deck Paint

Send1here,

Yellow will be warmer. It's your boat so you can give it any color you want. Most people choose "soft" colors so as to avoid glare in your eyes on a sunny day.

We have used acrylmeric sportcote on our non skid areas, it has water cleanup, and is used for non skid in swimming pool areas and showers.

Re: Deck Paint

Pick a color based on how much heat from the sun you want draw to your deck.

Re: Deck Paint

2nd vote for the Kiwi grip if you can access it overseas. Great product. No affiliation with it and bought it to do our old boat but never got around to it. New owner very happy with it. Can be seen being applied on youtube.
