Deck grip repair?

Just finished installing a new cabin floor... I had to step the mast so I could remove the compression post and now I am preparing to put everything back up. While taking a look at all the hardware, I am considering to replace the deck mounted halyard lead blocks with an organizer plate under the mast. If you take a look at where the blocks are currently mounted, you can see there is some type of deck texture or grip I will have to repair (I have this in my cockpit as well) once I move the blocks. The diamond woven pattern looks to be set in to be flush with the rest of the deck (or very close to flush). Either way, what is this material? How would I go about repairing it?

Takes lot's of practice. Not as easy as they make it sound.

Re: Deck grip repair?

A couple of other solutions:

1. Raised Blank.

For small areas, mask off an aesthetically pleasing shape, pour in the gelcoat, sand it flat (proud of the nonskid). This will look like a raised blank for mounting hardware.

2. Matching non-skid pattern.

- 1. Apply mold release on a section of good deck.

- 2. Layup a single layer of 1.5 oz mat fibreglass on the good nonskid.

- 3. When it cures, peel off your non-skid negative.

- 4. Proceed as shown in the video above.
