Danfoss(SECOP) electronic module

Seasons Greetings,

I have what is hopefully an easy question for someone to answer for me. The electronics module on my BD50 compressor failed. A friend had a spare on his boat, PN 101N0212....which I installed and got my fridge back in service. At the local chandlery they have PN 101N0650 for the electronics module. The appearance is exactly the same as the 101N0212 as far as I can tell. From Google I have been able to find out from a SECOP bulletin that both modules are the latest and are at the same engineering level. I cannot however find an explanation of the two part numbers.
They are referred to by different names. 101N0212(Aftermarket) and 101N0650(OEM/Automobile). The chandlery assures me the 101N0650 is up to the job and they are probably correct. My question is.....what is the difference between these two part numbers. Thanks all. Jim

The 212 does not carry UL approval, the 650 does (or the compressor + unit, Danfoss unclear and where the approval applies).

See this and check the approvals column. Otherwise they provide the same function according to that document and this one.

Re: Danfoss(SECOP) electronic module

This topic shows the repair of my BD50F refrigerator by replacing the failed 101N0500 controller with the newer 101N0510 controller.

My suggestion is to also add a diagnostic LED visible from the front w/o requiring disassembly, as-shown in my topic.

Re: Danfoss(SECOP) electronic module

Wingless, Your thread is full of great information, a good read on a stormy evening.

I rebuilt our fridge/freezer box about 8 years ago, used a lot of advice from Richard Kollmann on the how to, bought his book. I have the LED and it was flashing error code 3. Went to Richard’s site and read about the code, I really like how he offers up diagnostics to follow and to exhaust all possibilities before doing anything destructive...mainly with the refrigerant.
