Getting ready to haul the
boat for major
overhaul,
refit, upgrade, refurbishment and general cleanup. Figure no more that 6 months to do the job so using standard
marine math conversion units that translates into 12 human months.
Never had a
boat on the hard this long so trying to make sure I address all the things that may no like sitting for that long and do what I should do to those things to make them happier.
First couple of items that occur to me are
engine and
fuel tanks. Should I spray some appropriate flavor of goop into the cylinders and let it sit or just turn the
engine over every once in a while to keep the
oil in the block and cylinders?
Fuel tanks. Should I drain them dry or will that bring
condensation and end up with
water in the bottom and turn any fuel dregs into insoluble grunge? Idea two, fill the tanks with nice, clean fresh
diesel and does them with stabilizer and grunge killer?
Am in FL so not concerned too much with winterizing issues although if next
winter is like this one I may have to deal with that as well.
So, any other boat systems I should prepare for hibernation?
Thanks
