Is anyone aware of a site that
reviews performance of older designs?
We're looking t 40-48 foot
fiberglass yachts to sail the Pacific Islands. Most of the designs suitable in NZ are Roberts
Offshore, Ganley Pacemaker,
Peterson 44, and all seem suited in many respects, but it's difficult to compare benefits.
All these yachts can be bought and fitted for Cat1 for well under NZ$200,000 and owners (not surprisingly) applaud their performance... but finding an objective comparison would be useful.
(We appreciate that some will offer alternate vessels, so the must have list is...
large volume, three separate sleeping cabins, good
storage, good
deck space, safe, easy rig to manage, .... nice to have, solid dodger)
We're planning to be sailing 6mth excursions from NZ base with our
kids who are 13yrs and 12yrs each year for the next 3 yrs...venturing into Pacific and
Indonesia.
