Companionway slider

Our companionway slider is toast. Currently on the hard in Deltaville, Va.

Any recommendations for a carpenter who might be able to help?

Years ago I had my sea hood fail just like yours on a PSC Crealock 37. I had PSC make a new one. Contact Pacific Sea Craft in Washington, NC. They have all the dimensions, and could fabricate either a teak sea hood, or a fiberglass replacement.

Just curious how old is your boat?

Only reason I ask is to see how long the plywood hatch lasted and is plywood a viable option for the base of a new hatch? Ply could work, but when out in the weather, will eventually rot out again.

Don't know if you are handy, but you could make a new one.

I like the idea of a f/g base instead of ply, then glue your old teak on top to maintain the appearance. Not too hard if you make a mold out of thin ply and curved wood to match the crown in your hatch. Apply a mold release agent to the ply, then start laying in f/g and resin until you have a sufficient base for your hatch. (Make it a little larger than original size so you can cut it back to remove rough edges)

Can't see the hardware for the slider portion, but most likely could reuse that hardware then mount on the new f/g hatch. Clean up you old teak (remove glue/ply stuck to bottom) and glue on top of f/g.
