Re: Cleaning non skid deck surface
That would depend very much on what type of non-skid it is.

Re: Cleaning non skid deck surface
Good point. It is a gelcoat with a design for roughness. It was done by an individual here in Grenada by hand.

Re: Cleaning non skid deck surface
a brush and good detergent usually works. For really dirty moldy TSP works great, not good for the environment though.

Re: Cleaning non skid deck surface
I use a brush and boat soap. Although I would like to put a polish of some type on to help protect the gelcoat. Have you run across anything like that?

Re: Cleaning non skid deck surface
Once you give it a really good cleaning. If you can find the rotary brushes the car detailed use on carpet and install it on your polisher. Used this setup to work the polish into the non-skid. This is the fastest way to remove oxidation and dirt. Once done give one more scrub with a good boat soap and finish with a non skid wax. I've been doing it this way for years. It will make it look like new.

Re: Cleaning non skid deck surface
What did you apply the non skid wax with. I find my normal polishing pads don't work well.

Re: Cleaning non skid deck surface
The non -skid wax I use is a apply and leave. I'm not at the boat but I think it's natural marine they make a lot of great products.

Re: Cleaning non skid deck surface
Two ways I've done it - hands and knees, with a brush and a lot of elbow grease and patience, and using a pressure washer (which works well, but isn't a lot faster necessarily).
I have always used Starbrite's Deck Wash. It has a chelating agent that doesn't leave a slippery surface. I've always had good performance with it.

Re: Cleaning non skid deck surface
"Rool Off " is good and "Barkeepers Friend" is less abrasive than Comet.
On a patterned non-skid ( Looks like a coarse weave ) wax may make it too slippery.

Re: Cleaning non skid deck surface
Do not polish. Non skid needs to be kept bare of anything that would compromise its non skid properties. You can have a shiny boat or a safe boat. There is a trade off.
