catalina hull liner

We have a 27ft Catalina and find that the v-berth is in all essence to small for 2 people to comfortably sleep in. was wondering if i could cut out the inner liner in the v-berth to allow for more room. Is this liner strictly cosmetic, or does it have some structural purpose as well. Thanks

The hull liner is merely cosmetic, and not structural.

Cosmetic?

Gordo-- I believe Frank Buttler would disagree with you, particularly at the ends of the yacht. It might be wise for the Questioner to contact Catalina Yachts and boats for sale - Catalina Yachts .

I’ve never heard of an interior liner being “structural”; but of course would defer to Frank Butler (President of Catalina Yachts), in this specific case.

Perhaps the International Catalina 27/270 Owners Association might also offer some specific advice.
International Catalina 27/270 Association

They have the Catalina 27 Manuals, and more ...
