Catalina 270 Cabin Top Cover - leak fix

On the Catalina 270 there is a cover over the deck organizers on the cabin top. The companionway hatch cover slides between the cabin top and cover as well.

The cover's screws going through the cabin top to secure it are leaking on my boat. The screw heads are inside on the cabin ceiling.

From previous posts I know that removing the cover is a big job requiring the rig and traveller to be removed.

Can the cover be unscrewed and lifted up at all to attempt to seal the screw holes?

Can I simply remove one screw at a time and try to seal the holes from the underside in the cabin? Is there any effective way to ensure a good seal from the underside?

Photo attached.

Regards,
Brent
