Cabinet Sole - Laminate Floor Water Mark

I brought the Life Sling inside to get it out of the sun. I didn’t realize there was a bit of water still in it after the rain. It has left a water mark in the laminate flooring of in the cabin; a whitish haze in the finish. Please see photo

I’ve attempting to dry it out with the air conditioner and a fan - 24 hours now.

Anyone else had on issue; recommendations Click image for larger version

try polishing with a bit of plain tootpaste. not a fancy gel, or whitening. The kind that was around in the 50's. I'd test in a small (dime size) spot first.

Not sure if this works for you but an old furniture trick was a white Lint free cloth and an iron
As mentioned not sure this will work for you

Hi I would be a little concerned that the flooring was not appropriate for the application, given that the likelihood of contact with moisture on a boat is a given. Perhaps a conversation with the supplier would be appropriate.

Give it time and see if it recovers before you mess with it. A week maybe. Draw a line around the area so you can track it.

Re: Cabinet Sole - Laminate Floor Water Mark

CLR diluted should clean that up. I’d use a laminate polish after rinse

Re: Cabinet Sole - Laminate Floor Water Mark

Might not be water. The plasticizer in the lifesling cover might not be compatable with the clear coat on surface of the laminate.

If true, the only way to fix it would be to polish it, but that might not work if it has soaked in deep enough.

Re: Cabinet Sole - Laminate Floor Water Mark

What would be on a sole that is not impervious to water? DUH.
Something else may be going on.... or has someone refinished that sole in the past?

Give it some time. I have had white water stains in finish that simply disappeared in a while...

Re: Cabinet Sole - Laminate Floor Water Mark

I have this same thing that happens on our furniture all the time. The old time solution that works is to smear butter over it and let it sit for a couple of days then wipe off with clean cloth. Works. Don’t know why it works but it does. Best of luck.

Re: Cabinet Sole - Laminate Floor Water Mark

Peanut gallery:

Sound like the finish is water based, I would guess that this was an aftermarket Finnish. It maybe to your advantage to refinish with an appropriate barrier at some point. This is the same as a piece of furniture that exhibits rings. Oil based Finnish’s are a permanent solution but this requires meticulous application for a professional Finnish.
Cheers
