I have a 1972, 27ft C&C sailboat. The plastic spacer/bushing which supports the upper part of the rudder post as it passes through the cockpitdeck has broken, allowing excessive movement of the rudder post.
Does anyone have any ideas for locating a replacement? The rudder shaft is 1 3/4", the hulldeck opening is 2 1/2"
My C&C Redwing had the same problem when I bought it. I purchased a white, 5/8" thick plastic (don't know which? plastic) kitchen cutting board, cut and stacked appropriate sized do-nuts, fastened with #6 S.S screws. Still on the boat 22 yrs later.
