Re: But I Don't WANT to Go Up There !

BareFtGrl - I don't think it is your 56Kg that was the reason "he" sent you up the mast, it might have more to do with beer bets with his buddies on what part of the deck you may impact on the downward trip when the halyard slips loose.

I agree with the guys that suggest taking the mast down for the same reasons, if you havnt had it down and inspected it already you cant have any confidence in it. Your mast is only going to be about 30 ft or so so in the interest of self sufficiency i would make up an A frame out of 2x4s and use it to unstep and re step it without outside help. You can find videos on you tube showing how its done.

Re: But I Don't WANT to Go Up There !

OT.. I'll never forget years ago at a marina in sydney, Two pro riggers were working on a high end racer. But were arguing. One guy was up the mast the other was in the cockpit on the winch. The guy on the winch yelled out "f*&k you" and simply stepped out of the cockpit and went to lunch. The guy was up there for half an hour before a good samaritin came along and lowered him. It was funny for everyone involved - except the guy up the mast of course.

The moral to the story is , be nice to the guy on your winch
