Cruisers often store too much gear on deck, which raises a boat’s center of gravity and can make it considerably less stable

That's an extreme amount of crap on that boat. My goal is to add some well thought out bells and whistles but minimize weight aloft as much as possible.

That's good. But how many yachts have a hard dodger, outboard, jerrcan(s) of fuel, gas bottles, dinghy, arch (with solar panels), liferaft as well as a heavy anchor lashed to the deck?

I suppose on that boat, all the gear is as low as they can get it without putting it below. I can’t stand any kind of deck clutter myself which is why I’d like to attach some of it out of the way on the back of the pulpit/arch.

Edit: I am rethinking the generator box issue. I think by the time we add the solar and wind I wouldn’t need or want the generator. Not to mention it’s just more weight and something that needs fuel (which also adds more weight).
