bottom paint in and out of water
I now have my boat in the Sea of Cortes now and will have it on the hard approx 6 months in and 6 out. I know there are many cruisers out there that do the same thing. Please tell me what your experience is with bottom paints that will be good in this situation if any...

Re: bottom paint in and out of water
To state the obvious, if you put bottom paint on just prior to splashing, it’s a moot point.

Yes, that is obvious, but I am asking what paint will hold up when it is on the hard for 6 months and then splashed again...

Re: bottom paint in and out of water
Most of the modern ablative bottom paints do fine with that. I haul my boat every winter and expect to get a couple of seasons out of Micron Extra. There are plenty of other choices too. Just put some Micron Trilux on an aluminum dinghy that is pretty much going to sit all winter also.

Check the web site for any type/brand paint you can find or read the label on a can. Either will tell you what, if any effect drying has on the efficacy of their paint.

We faced this on the Great Lakes. Talk to the paint reps. We found Vivid was OK. In the Caribbean we use Island 44.

Sea Hawk Island 44 Hard with TBT and TBT booster. Widely available in the Caribbean. We grow no moss and it takes five months for barnacles to get a start. We also never scrape or brush.

Check on distribution where you are. Not available in the US.

In general, hard paints cannot withstand exposure to air. Ablatives can.
Please do not consider using the Sea Hawk tin-based paint. It is bad for Mother Earth and other living things.

Exactly our situation, and one of the reasons we went for Coppercoat. 9 years on we are still smiling!
