Bottom Job

I am looking considering a Catalina 25 here in Fl. The boat is on the hard, and has been so for about 6 monts. The bottom was done about a year prior to taking it out of the water. I was under the impression that a bottom job out of water, oxidizes faster when out of the water. 1) Is this true? and 2) can I get away with putting the boat back in the water till next winter, or does the bottom HAVE to be done now? I have the $ to do the bottom now, but that would exhaust all my resources right now. I would like to give myself some time to refill my cauffers before having another out go.

Some paints last better than others when out of the water. We started using a DeVoe paint for that as well as other reasons. Part of the problem is how bad is the growth in the area where you are going to keep the boat? Are you going to be willing to dive and scrape the bottom if the current paint doesn't do the job?
Your paint's already a year and a half old and you want it to last another year. I think if it was me I'd probably repaint now.
