Bomar series 100 hatch dogs

I’m refurbishing an older boat that has the Bomar series 100 cast aluminum hatches. I have just finished sand blasting and painting the hatch frames and installed new lenses. Anyone ever bought the double post tortion springs for the dogs? If so where?

Re: Bomar series 100 hatch dogs

A latch dog assembly repair kit can be purchased directly from Bomar, or also from the usual retail suspects. Part # P100-09. Contains the roll pins, threaded stud, knob, dog, spring .
Defender -$53.00
Black Burn marine-$48.63
Part number for 3/8” knob alone #P100-07

Bomar also sells direct, but I think they have a minimum $ amount, and that might make it out of the question. But maybe they will make an exception for just a few springs.....

Good luck...

Re: Bomar series 100 hatch dogs

Thanks Doug,

I have contacted Bomar( pompenette) and they won’t even talk to you if your hatch is 20+ years old except to say buy a new one. But I bought 2 new complete dog assemblies from west marine.. 1) they are aluminum instead of stainless, and they don’t have springs..I have 24 dog assemblies on my boat…it would be over $1200 to replace them all with an inferior product.

2) 22 of them are just fine with the exception of broken, bent or worn out return springs, making the dog catch when opening hatches.

I was just hoping the Brain trust had a source for replacement springs..
