Boatyard - Leeward Islands
I am possibly going to need a haulout for hull work in the Leeward Islands. I am currently in Antigua but could travel to Guadeloupe, St Martin etc.
Any recommendations, or places to avoid?
Thanks

Re: Boatyard - Leeward Islands
Hard to beat Antigua, especially since you're already there.
Jolly Harbour Marina has a 75 ton Marine Travelift, and a dedicated storage area in their long-term yard.
Antigua Slipway has a Boatyard / Haul Out Located in English Harbour.
North Sound Marina & Boatyard at Crabb’s Peninsular on the north coast of Antigua has a 150 ton Marine Travel Lift & boatyard.
Bailey’s Boat Yard in Falmouth Harbour has a 70 Ton Travel Lift & boatyard.
Sammy’s Boatyard in Falmouth Harbour has 50 Ton Travel Lift & yard.

Re: Boatyard - Leeward Islands
Of course, if you’re concerned about hurricane season, Trinidad or Grenada might be better.

St Kitts marine works is very inexpensive, lots of space, huge travel lift. You can do your own work without issue. Best to bring everything you evil need, although fiberglass supplies are available. Yard work labor costs are very reasonable at about $20/ hour, I don't bother sanding and painting the bottom myself. Clear in and out easily. Let me know if you need more info.

However, the Federation of St Christopher (St Kitts) and Nevis is part of the LEEWARD Islands.
It is a tough return, beating against wind and current to Antigua.

Haul out in Point-a- Pitre Boat Yard , Good people with any kind of service for your boat available and very inexpensive. Its a French Government owned and run facility so the price is right. Also slip fees are half from any other place in the Carib. Love those French they know sailboats like no one else.

But, if he can't beat to windward, how did he get to Antigua to start with?

Antigua is also one of the Leeward Islands. If you are leaving St. Kitts for St. Martin or Guadeloupe, it's a reach.

Re: Boatyard - Leeward Islands
Thanks to everyone who replied. I have, touch wood managed to solve my problem without hauling out.
Lionel
BTW, Point a Pitre is in Guadeloupe.
