Bimini Left Open?

When not being used, and for durabilty, it is best to leave a sunbrella bimini open, or closed and zipped in its bag? I wouldn't want to do this every day, but what if the boat is unused for a while? Is there a guideline for how long it's OK to leave the bimini on and open? A week? A month? A season?

They can be left open a real long time, but zipping it up protects the fabric from the UV and dirt dust etc....
