Best way to repair this?
Hi all,
We made a big boo boo on the outside of the stern tube housing while trying to get the cutlass out, any recommendations on how to best
repair
something like this?
Thanks!
Update - we did get the cutlass out!

Re: Best way to repair this?
To me it looks like a cracked and worn cutlass bearing and a large chunk of
bottom paint
missing from the port side of the stern tube.
Are you talking about the
bottom paint
?
I'd have the bottom media blasted, barrier coated and repainted. That is VERY thick.

Re: Best way to repair this?
Stern tubes are fiberglassed in place. That just looks like fairing compound. Grind it off and replace with new fairing compound.

Next time, use a slide hammer puller with the "bent finger" attachment.
