Best way to get adhesive from peel and stick velco off the hull
The yard put my solar panel on the transom of my boat for the winter with velco strips (sticky backing).
See pic. I peeled one strip off, it is at the bottom of the pic on top of the lettering (actually, this is looking down from over the transom, it is at the top of the transom), but did not get it all off, and there is also residue. I don't want to scratch the hull with a paint scrapper, and I am not sure if acetone is OK for fiberglass. The 2 vertical strips are on really good, I am not sure I can peel by hand like I did for the horizontal one. Appreciate ideas.

At Lowes they have a product called Zep Vandal remover. I've removed Thousands of feet of Vinyl adhesive over the years. The graffiti, vandal, marker, and adhesive removers from ZEP and 3M work the best. Use these with plastic razor blades.
Uline, Grainger, and Lowes have these products.

I'd consider making the yard do it and repair any damages if it happens.

That ship has sailed. I need to do it. If the above product works well, no big deal.

I've used both Goo Gone and Goof Off, available at most hardware or department stores in US. Probably similar to the ZEP and 3M products.
Whichever one you use, if those are vinyl letters, then be careful around them or you will be removing them too.

No, they're not the same or even close to being similar.

You can also use acetone, it will not damage gelcoat, but will lift paint. The fumes aren't good for you. Wash your hands and any other skin it got on when you're finished. It will eat plastic gloves.

Correct, might add if its two component Polyurethane paint it won't get damaged by Acetone either when it's fully cured.
Might not want to get it onto the black vinyl letters underneath though...

Acetone will take most adhesive residues off. It is also really handy to remove any small drips of diesel that might get on gelcoat.

Lacquer thinner works well and will not damage gel coat

Acetone or lacquer thinner but both will remove any wax, so plan on re-waxing the area

Re: Best way to get adhesive from peel and stick velco off the hull
Used some goo gone, plastic razor blade (didn't know about these) and some elbow grease and all is good now.
I knew acetone would take it off, just didn't know if it would damage paint/gelcoat. Appreciate all the input.
