Best Source for Raritan Water Heater?

My old 6 gallon Raritan water heater has finally started to leak and I am limited to replacing with the same, due to extremely limited space constraints.

Who has best prices, stock and service? Anyone else recently had to replace their Raritan heater?

In northern Florida currently.

I would just google it. Usually a big difference in $ when you do that.

I was hoping to throw some business towards forum members, if possible.

Re: Best Source for Raritan Water Heater?

Had same issue with our Raritan heater, it was original, almost 30 years old. Can't ask for better service life.

During trying to removal of old heater we found out the old heater was obviously installed during original construction of boat prior to having the upper deck installed (common in boat construction). We had to cut old heater in half with angle grinder to remove without cutting fiberglass hatch. Only thing I could fit in place was a isotherm horz unit with a little modification of mounting area to make room.

O the joys of boat ownership.

PM HopCar, he gives CF members a discount (I believe).

Re: Best Source for Raritan Water Heater?

Our Raritan rusted out & I impulsively bought a stainless Seaward that was on sale at West Marine. All that stainless really looks great. That's the only good thing I can say about it.

Defender is normally where I start & the see if anyone can beat there price. They also run sales on Isotemp pretty often which Practical Sailor rated the best many years ago.

Re: Best Source for Raritan Water Heater?

It is good to deal with the local community if you can. I replaced mine, same situation, old, direct replacement, however, I think with new energy codes that have been established, the new heater was about an inch taller, and an inch, wider. just a little bit of a hassle to fit in, and the panel that drops in over it, under the nav station seat, had to be raised about an inc.

I second or third Hopcar, more often than not he comes in a little better than Defender, and lots of times I go to him asking for advice and he sends me a few options to chose from on some things, like some really excellent investment cast 1/4 turn 316 SS washdown facets.
I had never seen any that looked that good.
