"Ball Catch" replacement for interior cabinet

Hi,

I have a 1982 Whitby42 and at 40 years old, bits and bobs are needing replacement. I have a cabinet catch of what I think is termed "ball-catch" that has broken and I am looking for a suitable replacement. It would be great to find the same one since the orientation of the catch is a bit different than most of the ones I have seen, but I would take any suggestions on replacements. If you have had to replace something like this or know of a source, I would be grateful.

Similar if you don’t find, look at Southco grabber catch latches. Exists in different degrees of stiffness.

Pretty sure that is a Perko product but I think it’s discontinued.
Sea-Dog makes some similar catches that might work.

I have used that style to replace a variety of door catches and find that they can almost always be mounted without new blocking or brackets and that they work very well. The ball portion can be mounted in a number of orientations. The brass double-ball catches are available from a variety of suppliers, not just Lee Valley.

Re: "Ball Catch" replacement for interior cabinet

Nylon fails with age. New nylons have CF and PC blends but not for catches. Lee Valley is my go to for cabinetry. There’s is a tiny hardware store on Bloor Street in Toronto near ossington with carved teak handles all sizes. I don’t need any but wish I did they are so nice. Some sort of connection with a relative in Asia so they are like $2.50-$4.00. Quite the selection of different shades of teak.
I also print two terrible hinges invented by Beneteau interior folks. They were made in Zamax a zinc casting with platted surface. I 3D print them in PA6 Nylon so stronger than cast aluminum. The anchor locker hinge is lame zinc too. They just snap and are not available.
The replacement plastic hinge fits into the Beneteau deck and hatch castings and holes. The typical McGiver is to drill new holes and put an awkward raised stainless hinge.
Lee Valley have a special catalogue for cabinet hardware hinges and alike. Things like new teak plugs to cover screws and the razor saw to cut the plugs flush. There are two stores in Toronto one on king the other the top west off Steels. Mail order has been their thing for 40 years or so. There tools like router bits are addictive they are so well made and competitive in high end products. I’m a fan
