Awl Grip - Small Quantities

Hi Folks,

I have a small repair that needs about 1/8 oz or less of Flag Blue Awl Grip. Anyone know where I can obtain small quantities? Thanks.

From your local professional marine painter.

Keep in mind Awl Grip is best sprayed, whereas Awl Craft can be applied with a brush or roller and the results can be outstanding.

You can get Awl-something in matching colors in small jar touchup, like car touch up paint, if that would work.

I believe you have this backwards. Awlcraft is spray only.

I think your best bet is to go to the boat yard you do business with and ask them if they have a partial can they can sell you. If your a good customer they’d probably give you a couple of ounces.

Failing that, if it’s just a scratch you’re dealing with, Interlux makes Briteside in Flag Blue.

I think you will need small quantities of brush converter and reducer too as well as primer with converter and reducer too - as I think Awlgrip topcoats are all two-part. Best advice above is to pay the yard to give you small cups already mixed; but don't mix the topcoat until the primer is dry (16 hours I think). Mixed topcoat will not keep unless refrigerated.

Re: Awl Grip - Small Quantities

I had M Yachts in Annapolis make me a touch up kit of Awlgrip for covering knicks and gouges. they mixed it to the official color chart specs and gave me a bottle of the paint and the hardener. I bought some small plastic 1 oz cups and small plastic "pipettes" to extract a small amount of the paint and hardener to mix in the little cups. The paint and hardener wont last forever in the jars, but I was able to touch up some gouges to my satisfaction with a small brush... not a like new perfect finish, but good enough for my 35 year old- good old boat.
