I have Benmar 210 Course Keeper running ok on my sailing cat. Very old school
, but functional.
I have a slightly used TMQ AP4 control unit and compass
sitting on the shelf and am wondering how to swap it in.
From what I can see, the main issue might be the clutch
. The Benmar apparently has an electronic clutch
, and turning the wheel
to steer is possible without disengaging the auto. The unit just returns to the original set heading after a few seconds.
The TMQ unit has pinouts for motor
(tested at 8 volts which matches the requirement for the hydraulic pump) and for clutch. The pump motor
controller has no input for clutch. So I don't know what is required or what is possible. I suppose the unit could be put in standby or off, when wanting/needing to hand steer?
Does anyone have experience of these two systems, and their possible interchangeability?
