Antifouling

I think this is a potential big debate, with some really strong opinions. As somebody who has to make a decision shortly, I need help. I am sure that bottom paint decisions should be site specific, boat specific, and made based on both cost and maintenance decisions. Hopefully, we can have different threads for different assumptions. Right now I would love to hear your opinions on my situation. Assumptions:

Caribbean for at least two winters, 35 foot cruising catamaran, willing to hand scrub regularly just for the exercise and only drawing a metre so I can reach it all easily, willing to pay only a reasonable premium for performance and lower maintenance, willing to blast and sand the old stuff off hopefully only once, hoping I don't need to haul often.

By the way, do I thank you guys often enough? This forum is quite a value to me. Merry Xmas.

For tropical waters, I like Petitte "Trinidad", over an epoxy barrier coat.
Regards,
Gord

Yup, I have been using Trinidad on my boats..
Red in the Carribbean and blue in Florida.

(I seem to remember that the copper content of red is slightly higher, but the blue works great around here and I get almost 2 years from a coat)

You guys must like sanding . We use Petit acp50 ablative over bariercoat coat ,2 coats black 5 coats blue .when we see black its time to do it again . I thought we would lose a coat a year ,but it has been five years now and still don't see any black .And still no growth. We did add cayenne peper ,but don't know if it made any differance. I didn't think it could hurt. We dive on the boat and change the zincs in the water when needed. I have heard that the newer petit ablative with SLR is crap so we will stick with the older formula ACP50
