Adding a teak sole in cabin

The boat I just bought has a fiberglass sole with some sure grip texture. The previous owner glued down some indoor/outdoor carpeting. I ripped that out immediately.

I'm thinking of putting down either some teak strips or building a teak insert for the salon deck. Anyone have experience doing either aftermarket?

I've seen some pocket cruisers where the owner added teak strips to the deck both inside and out and it looked amazing. Personally, I don't think you have too much wood trim.

You could get a sheet of teak, and holly sole plywood ! Price? You could also do Faux teak! I saw it at the Boston show ! It looks really good ! It's a plastic product that the company says is non fading, and tough as nails ! I would not use all teak, as I like contrast, added with the holly, down below!

On my last boat it had a crappy piece of plywood over the bilge. I replaced it with mahogany and added some cabinets. That was very stylish.
