2002 Catalina MKII

I considering a purchase of a very lightly used 2002 Catalina MKII. I just recently had it surveyed. I haven't yet received the report and do not expect major issues. When the boat hauled out and was on the lift, the operator was asked the weight of the vessel. He replied 32,000 lbs. I thought this to be heavy and inquired about his scale calibration and he said it is very accurate given prior use and calibration.

The boat has sat idle for the past 10+years in a slip. It has not been sailed during that time. The boat weight is 20,500 lbs per manufacturer full of fluids if full of water & diesel which it is not, it would top out at 21,752.

Any ideas for for the 10,248 lb differential. Water logged? IDK. I have not yet received the survey but the marine surveyor was not even aware of this until I subsequently mentioned it.

Any advice would be helpful.

I am assuming this is a Catalina 42. We had a Mark I, with a similar published weight. The last time we hauled it, it was pushing close to 29,000 pounds on the lift, if I remember right, which I thought sounded kind of high at the time.
