2-part polyurethane paint activator compatibility

After lots of lots of searching here in Panama, I found a shop that sold 2-part poly paint in Panama City. It's the "Mega" line of paint offered by Pintuco - it's an automotive finish. Unfortunately the activator they gave me is "E40" which, after some research, I found is for a different line of polyurethane paints also offered by Pintuco. But this wasn't a mistake by the shop, they were quite sure the system would work this way.

I don't know enough about the chemistry to be sure the two are compatible, or what the ratio should be if they are. I contacted Pintuco, and they referred me to a shop I could call in town, but my Spanish isn't quite up to par for that conversation to be fruitful.

Could anyone offer insight based on experience with other polyurethane paints? Should I just do some test panels and see what happens?

You get the same story in the US at some paint supply shops. I think the important thing is if the mix ratio matches ie 2:1, 3:1 or 4:1.

Most polys:

3 parts by volume of Part A with 1 part
by volume of Part B.
If reducer solvent is used, add only after both components have
been thoroughly mixed.

Re: 2-part polyurethane paint activator compatibility

When I painted the deck of my yacht with two part polyurethane I realised half way through I was using the polyurethane primer catalyst with the topcoat polyurethane and it was "going off". But I suspect I was lucky: I wouldn't do it without getting expert advice.

Trial it. 10ml or 15ml and wait an hour.
I once attempted to use-up some leftovers and after 14 days I had to wash and sand it off as it was still very very tacky. Fortunately it was the back side of a small part and easily dealt with, just delayed me 3 weeks
