1-step spray can gelcoat? Is it vapor ware?

From a website...
"
Offered in white, neutral, and clear, Dolphinite’s all-in-one gelcoat is a complete formula that makes it easy to repair your fiberglass boat in one step.
"
The all-in-one formula condenses the usual multi-stage gelcoat process into one simple step. You don’t need to mix chemicals and compounds or wait between coats.
"
- Sign me up!!!

I called Dolphonite, and they will not sell it to me, and wouldn't tell me where to buy it, great customer service.

Got some small gel coat repairs, would be great to not have to mess w/ the mess and extra steps of hardener, and all the cleaning involved.

I'd love to hear if someone has tried it, or seen it for sale online.

I also can't find where to buy it

I have some scrapes it'd be ideal for - brushing never seems to get it smooth

Yeah a spray would be sweet! I have been there done that. Brush, roll, sand sand sand compound hours and hours. And so hard to match. Be even better if you could send a sample and they could color match.

You can put normal gelcoat into a Preval sprayer.

I don't think there is a trick that works. I came to the conclusion that the nozzle and tube are good for one use, for gelcoat at least. For other finishes it seems to be possible to clean the nozzle etc. with water or solvent.

I bought a kit which has numerous nozzles, tubes, etc.

I've also had good results with a prevail sprayer and gel coat. I did thin it with acetone.

Re: 1-step spray can gelcoat? Is it vapor ware?

Trade secret for Preval use: have a heat gun handy while spraying. Warm up the power canister before spraying to provide better pressure. As you spray, you will notice the power canister getting cold fast. As it gets cold it quickly loses pressure. Pause and warm it up with the heat gun every minute or two of spray time and this will not happen. Makes a huge difference. Obviously, you are just trying to make it warm to the touch, you can cause it to blow up if you are silly enough to get it really hot, I'm sure the manufacturer doesn't approve, YMMV, etc etc etc...

Or, even better, get one of these instead:

Better for paint than gel as it's siphon feed, but if you thin your gel with styrene monomer and/or MEK (plus maybe a scoche of 'tone) it shoots great. Plus the propellant cans are way cheaper and have way more payload. Also get one of these if you wanna shoot gel, it helps:

I also warm the propellant on a Badger. It matters. Be safe!

Re: 1-step spray can gelcoat? Is it vapor ware?

I'm sure the spray can of gel didn't make it because it's impossible to color match this way. What's the point? Not much good at that point, except possibly as a primer. Except most people like to add a surface seal or other product, and you can't do that either. Why bother when there are products like Preval and Badger that are so cheap and allow you to mix as you like/need for the environment?
