yanmar_3ym30-Repo Boat

Gents,

Just completed a survey on a relatively new repo boat, less than 10 years old, the engine tho is 3 years newer than the boat. This yanmar was not tested, as the boat was on the hard and the alternator bracket assembly was MIA.

Given that the engine wasnt tested and clearly needs the parts replaced can you help me answer these questions;

Cost for repairs and parts and labor to reinstall alternator and cover (128990-74990) geusstimate?

What other concerns would you have or what things should we keep a watchful eye for?

It's perfectly possible to start an engine while out of the water - you just can't run it long enough to create cooling problems. I would want to see that the engine started and didn't produce a bunch of smoke before proceeding. Westerbeke probably way over charges for the parts, and they are not likely to be generic, but the installation is DIY for even a beginner.
