Has anyone used an after market starter for a Yanmar 3ym30.

Re: Yanmar starter

I have a 4JH2-DTE and just purchased a replacement starter from Rare Electrical through Amazon and it is doing just fine. It was an identical (in appearance) replacement to the one that came off the motor. I am the third owner to the boat, so I am not sure how long ago the last one was put on, I've had the boat for 2 seasons. I plan to clean the old one and keep it as a spare, since I think the issue is corrosion on the contacts in the solenoid or brushes, since it throws the bendix forward, but doesn't always spin the starter motor. This was the reason I replaced it.

I know it isn't the same model, but it is a Yanmar.

Good Luck.
