Yanmar parts manual - what does I and R stand for.

The last columns in the Yanmar parts manual for the 4JH3 engines are labeled I and R. What do they mean?
An example for the freshwater pump is below.

At the beginning of the manual there should be an explanation. It concerns Interchangeability and Remarks. Best to check if you find the explanation in the manual, a bit involved to repeat here.

It is not mentioned in the key at the beginning of the manual I have. That's why I asked.

I attached the relevant page out of a manual, I would say that has the answers you are looking for. (btw, how can I attach an image to this message ?)

(OK, I see the image already, I didn't realise an uploaded file is shown as a Thumbnail.)

Thanks. The key you displayed is not in the parts manual I downloaded.

It's not something that I see mentioned widely either in the various manuals so be careful that this explanation does indeed apply to your manual too. I would be very surprised if the screenshot I sent is inconsistent with the manual you are using though.

In your case the R stands for remarks. It's telling you that the part number
was changed after serial # E25450. The new number for the freshwater should
be 129470-42002

Are you sure? I would suggest the R in the column headed I means the old and new parts are interchangeable. In the example in the OP there are no remarks.
