Yanmar Parts Issues

Yanmars are good engines. I have a 5KW Yanmar powered genset on my Cal 46 that has 6,600 hours on it. Change oil and filter regularly, don't overheat, calibrate injectors each 1,000 hours and feed it good clean fuel and they will last.

When you need parts, GRRRR. You must by them from a local Yanmar "dealer".
We are Florida LLC, building boat diesel engines and gears. If we need parts for a 40 year old Perkins, no problem. I go online anytime, order and get them in a few days.

We are lucky to get Yanmar parts in a week! Then you must deal with their local dealer. We have been trying to get parts for a 1GM for about two weeks.

Anyone have a solution? If you don't want to post, send me a PM

My solution is to not take any more Yanmars in my shop. We are booked up for 3 months building Perkins, so don't ask me to work on a _____. We stopped working on "Green Griefs" several years ago since I could only get parts from a Cousin in The Netherlands.

BTW, anyone have or know of any rebuildable Perkins 4.108's near our area, "Baja Alabama" AKA Florida Panhandle.

Re: Yanmar Parts Issues

When I was in FL. My mechanic and I used Florida Marine Diesel in Fort Pierce. The guy who ran that parts shop (in a little house actually) seemed pretty fair on Yanmar parts.
