Re: Yanmar intermittent panel buzzer & light

I was having similar issues with my old 1981 Yanmar panel. New one was $900 for my 1GM panel. I removed panel , cleaned as much as possible and sprayed with di letric grease and 11 years later still good. Clean and electric lube...

Re: Yanmar intermittent panel buzzer & light

Ran another test today. I applied very direct heat to the oil pressure sensor using a heat gun, while having the ignition on the on position, and, voila, the buzzer and light came on strong. This exercise mimicked what happens when the engine warms up. This has gotta be it. Ordered sensor for $10.

Good fault finding there using the heat gun.
Really cheap for a yanmar part too. Thanks for posting the conclusion as another lesson learned

Thanks Compass790
You can never tell with Yanmar if the part is going to cost $10 or $200. LOL.

In my experience, you can be pretty certain it will cost more, rather than less.

Closure. Replacing oil pressure sensor fixed my problem.
Thanks for everyone comments.

But I'm a whole lot happier now, not only knowing if the water is too hot, but how hot, etc.
Can you give us more details on how you did this? I like the idea of installing gauges.

Re: Yanmar intermittent panel buzzer & light

I had a friend do it, a really good mechanic who used to work for the marina where I keep the boat but fell out with the owner and now delivers pizzas. I have to take the boat somewhere other than the marina so he can work on it, but he loves the boat and is happy to help. He ordered adapters to convert from Yanmar's metric sizes on the engine to the SAE sizes on the instruments from a supplier for Catalina sailboats, since Catalinas use Yanmar engines, I suppose. Here is the link: (https://www.catalinadirect.com). I bought a water temperature gauge and an oil pressure gauge from a car parts shop and we bored two holes next to the instrument panel and installed them in less than an hour. If you need more details, let me know and I will ask my friend.
