Yanmar 75 Replacement Value ?

What might an engine replacement (and trans) cost be for a Hunter 460? Just a ball park est. In Florida. 75 hp Yanmar. Parts and labor with warranty.

Re: Yanmar 75 Replacement Value ?

Engine=$9500, trans=$2500, plus labor which could be from $5k to $10k.

Re: Yanmar 75 Replacement Value ?

I just had a 75hp turbo yanmar priced out. $15k installed and included a new engine panel, 12' electrical connection, motor mounts, transmission, etc. installed. Basically, everything would be new.

Re: Yanmar 75 Replacement Value ?

A friend just installed a Yanmar 75 HP on his CSY 44.
Total cost came to about $16K.

Re: Yanmar 75 Replacement Value ?

Not to quibble, but that H460 came with a 76 hp Yanmar.
(It's still only gonna cost you $15k installed.)

Re: Yanmar 75 Replacement Value ?

BTW, you should also at least LOOK at alternatives. I really, really dislike Yanmar. Not their engines, just Yanmar USA and many of their distributors.

Re: Yanmar 75 Replacement Value ?

I'm researching for a future purchase of an older model, 1980+ 45-50'. I've been seeing several of the older 2000+ boats for sale stating engine replacement after only 5 years. Assuming the engine is used primarily for harbor use, I'm wondering,
1. What the cost of a replacement is?, and
2. Why are they being replaced?
3. How the engine cost factors into a sale price.
4. How many hours did the engine have?
Many of the production boats I see for sale are charters, so I can assume reasoning is abuse.

Im definately interested in alternates like Westerbeke, etc. I picked Yanmar because that seems to be the one replaced more that anything else.
Thanks all for your input.
