We're picking up a boat
with twin Yanmar
6LY3-STP (440hp common rail diesel) motors. Right now the boat
has no N2k network and has the motors in a tiny canbus network of some sort with two i5601E displays for the motors, but the canbus connector looked slightly different from NMEA 2000
. On the survey
I didn't have a spare N2k device to try to plug
in and debug, but from reading docs on the units, it sounds like some proprietary canbus system.
Has anyone gotten this data converted over to NMEA 2000
for use on your main marine
network before? Or knows the specs of the sub canbus network? I can somewhat easily write a little adapter box that reads in that network and spits proper PGNs out on the main N2k network if I absolutely have to, I'd just rather not sink the probably 10-15 hours into that project
if I can avoid it, plus whatever reverse engineering I likely have to do.
