Re: Yanmar 54hp engine. Uprated alternator. Persistent belt slip

Another factor is the amount of "wrap" a belt has around a pulley. A turn of 180 degrees would be ideal and potential for slipping is increased as that figure is reduced.

Re: Yanmar 54hp engine. Uprated alternator. Persistent belt slip

Thank you all. Very good advice in there.

Luckily we had a charge controller so I knocked the field down to reduce load as a short term measure and will be ordering the serpentine kit and fitting it later this summer.

Once again thanks for the help absolutely invaluable.

Re: Yanmar 54hp engine. Uprated alternator. Persistent belt slip

I found it for $450 dollars online and I will fit myself. More than I want to pay but I don't think I have much choice. If anyone has used the balmar or yanmar kits please let me know your experience. If anyone has a good cheap source please let me know that too.

Thanks

Andy
