Found the problem

One of the injectors was not working to full capacity and therefore diesel leaked thru the seal and leaked into the oil. The oil level rose but the pressure gauge went down due to the different viscosity of the mix. We replaced the injector and almost got back our full RPM capacity. It will take a bit of time because I fear some glaze has formed. It explained the white smoke, unburned fuel and the low lub reading, mix of diesel into the oil.

Thank you for all your help. We finally found out by untying the fuel to the cylinders and listen to the RPM change. Cylinder 4 gave almost no change in sound while all the others did.

Glad you found the problem.
Took a trip down to Ecuador on a boat with a 4JH3-TE which involved a lot of motoring. Of course the oil gauge or sender quit mid way, so we were especially motivated to figure out the cause. Turns out the gauge is actually an option - one almost everyone takes with the instrument panel - but not the final arbiter on real oil pressure. There is a separate circuit connected to another sensor which trips the alarm if there is actually inadequate pressure - so if you hear the alarm, you have a real problem. If you don't, you just naturally get to worry about it...
