A few months back I had to remove the injector pump
from a yanmar
4jh4e. I was not happy when I looked at what was required, a lot of work
to remove the the front timing cover.
Upon closer inspection
and some thought it became obvious that all that work
was not needed. The manufacture of a Puller to hold the injector drive gear
in place while removing the injector pump
was all that was required.
The puller bolts into the 4 holes that the cover plate bolts use, two bolts into the gear
itself and one big fellow in the center to pop the shaft. Be sure to rotate the gear so that the key is on top before you begin. Easy as that.
A couple of hours later the puller made, put in place, an hour after that and the pump
was on it's way for a full service
. A week later.....and a nice wad of cash gone.....the pump
was back in place and the motor
purring like a kitten
This may be common knowledge, I am not sure. I just thought I would let folks know it's easy done if they need to do it.
PS; I do still have the puller, and no use for it, so I suppose I would part with it.
