Yanmar 4JH4E Fuel Consumption

I'm looking for some data on the fuel consumption for a 4JH4E.
She has an high output Balmar alternator. I'm trying to work out our fuel budget for this year's ARC.
I can't get to the boat to test so it's going to be a bit of guess work. I'm hoping for an educated guess rather than a wild ass guess!
Does anyone have thoughts on hours per day charging for the ARC and litres/hour running the alternator?
I'm estimating 1 hour/day minimum and 1,800 rpm for max output but this is a back of the envelope calculation.
Fridge will be on, new B&G chart plotters will be used sparingly, B&G instruments will be used, LED nav lights, charging Iridium Go and phones/tablets.
It's 45 footer and she sails well so don't expect much motoring.

Hopefully this helps. My HC33 is powered by a Yanmar 4JHE, which I believe is the forefather of your engine. Mine produces less HP (44) and burns .6 GPH at 2300RPM. I also run a Balmar 100A alternator.

You could also reach out to hpeer (Forum Member).

He has a 4JH4. Not exactly the same engine, but I'm a comparison may be helpful to come up with an average...

Fair winds! Hope you have a fun ARC,

Re: Yanmar 4JH4E Fuel Consumption

I've got a 4JHTE. At 1800 hours I burn about .7 gallons/per hour.
You should do an energy budget. What about auto-pilot? Time to charge also depends on the battery chemistry and how your regulator is set up. Without solar, an hour does not sound like enough time.
Enjoy the crossing!

Yes I have a 4Jh4TE.

Somewhere I found consumption charts that look to be about right.

1 gallon/hr at 1,800 rpm for me.

Re: Yanmar 4JH4E Fuel Consumption

Thanks for the responses. Hoping to have a few days before the ARC to make an energy budget. I'll be bringing extra diesel and we'll have 7 racers on board so we can sail without electricity (except lights) if needed.
The boat is leaving for Gran Canaria in a few days and the delivery skipper will obviously be able to give me an estimate but I'd rather be onboard myself.
