Yanmar 4-JHE Thermostat

I ordered one, it's $73.
Surely it corssmatches to something else, something else more commonly available?
Anybody got a part number for a match? I'd like a spare but don't want to pop another $73.

Re: Yanmar 4-JHE Thermostat

Maybe it's a fail safe thermostat and worth a bit more?

Re: Yanmar 4-JHE Thermostat

What is a fail safe thermostat?
It is a little odd, it differs from a "normal" thermostat in that there is a separate washer like portion of it below the regular thermostat that seems obviously to seal to the housing.
I'm not sure of it's function, but there is more to this thing that the simple opens when X temp is reached.

Fail safe is when they fail the fail open instead of closed. The little thermo unit is set up different. You can get these for just about any popular engine at a good auto parts store.
