For the second time with my YGM30, I have managed to over-torque the
gearbox dipstick when screwing it back in, breaking the dipstick where the threads are flush with the top of the
gearbox. Once I get the broken piece out (can't remember what I did the first time, but I'll use a large easy-out) I've got a better replacement, which my
engine shop, CC
Marine here in Marina del Rey, turned me on to. It's a machined
aluminum top piece which connects easily to the existing
stainless steel dipstick. I don't know who makes it but the shop's part number was YM1001-01 and it cost $65 - about the
price of two
Yanmar dipsticks.
