Yanmar 3YM20 - Trigger relay when engine is running

The Yanmar manual unfortunately only has a very basic wiring diagram with limited explanations.

I am looking to control a relay that opens/closes when my engine is running/stopped. It is a 2004 3YM20 and the control panel is the old Yanmar panel with a key.

A voltage sensitive relay will not work for my application, so I was hoping to connect my relay to one of the cables in the harness coming to the control panel but I am not sure which one to use.

Any tips would be much appreciated.

It is best to use the oil pressure alarm wire. Note that this isn’t the oil pressure sensor, which is for the meter.

It’s easier to find at the engine control panel, but most can point out the pressure switch at the engine as well.
