That said, do I really give up much swapping from a 3QM30F (which I have) to a 3YM30?

I had a 3YM20 in my previous, smaller boat and was very happy with it, though lots of modifications were needed to replace the previous Kubota.

Is repowering from 3QM30 to a 3YM30 or 3JH5 a fairly simple process.

Re: anecdote

It will probably not be a simple job but you will be very happy with JH series. Go to Yanmar Marine Diesel Engines - pleasure & commercial boating - sailing & powerboats - Yanmar Marine and look at the spec sheet. I dont know of anyone who is unhappy with their JH motor.

Re: Yanmar 3QM30F

I still don't get it, why would anyone want to take out a perfectly fine running but obsolete gas engine and replace it with a possibly faulty obsolete Diesel engine?
Lotta work and money for little gain, and possibly a headache?
