Dunno how you can stand diesel leaks, they drive me more crazy. The mess in the boat is bad enough but the sight of it on the sea surface when the bilge pump goes of is disturbing to me anyway.
Oh the leak is just a couple drops here and there, I have an oil absorber pad under it and it never gets to the bilge. I actually tightened the phillip screws on top and now is a couple drops maybe if I motor for more than a few a hours.

You can seal the diaphragm easy enough with loctite 518 master gasket or similar if you undo those screws remove the diaphragm & coat the sealing faces & reassemble.
But it wont fix your white smoke issues.

Re: Yanmar 3GM30 white smoke (help)

I can’t agree that a leaking lift pump is extremely unlikely to cause white smoke.
If fuel can get out air can get in abs cause white smoke.
Being that the yanmar lift pump can leak fuel into the crankcase on some models, and with the issue described, I would of expected that to be the first thing you did not the last.
