Yanah 15HP vs. Tohatsu 18HP (2-Stroke OB)

I've decided to purchase a new 2-Stroke, mainly because of weight, and ease of repairs.

Question is which 2-Stroke between the above.

Yes, I farmer growing cactus for tequila in Mexico, Peruvian raising Llama for its wool, or a Fijian making kava to chill out, all can diect you to obtain repairs or parts for a 15HP Yamaha, and at only 31kgs. it makes for an appealing choice.

However, 18HP Tohatsu is 3HP more (bigger is always better ... especialy when under load) and only 4kgs more (41kgs.), and has "electric start" (a feature my lazy guests would prefer).

While I know all small Mercury, Nissan, etc engines are made by Tohatsu, I've always regarded Mercury engines as "noisy" relative to other manufacturer's engines, and while available in the Bahamas and New Zealand, I have no idea as to the availability of parts elsewhere.

Your advice is requested.

Go with Yamaha, they have a lot more dealers as you well know. Put a set of fins on it and it'll outdraw the Tohatsu.
