Yamaha 15hp Enduro Charging Ability

Does anyone know if the 15hp Yamaha Enduro can have a charging kit added to allow charging a 12V battery?

Never seen nor heard of one, but in theory you should be able to adapt another bridge rectifier to it.

I need to take a motor into the Yamaha shop in a few days - will try and remember to ask if no one has answered by then.

Lift the lid and look for a pair of wires running to an electrical connection on the case just below cover joint. If you have this, chances are it is an auxiliary power out put.

Re: Yamaha 15hp Enduro Charging Ability

The Enduros do not come with any type of charging system, so there are no wires in it at all. I was wondering if it is possible to add a charging coil and rectifier to one. The US 2-stroke Yamaha 15 versions (not Enduro) allowed this. Is there something about the Enduro design in that the US version charge kits would not work?

That's interesting ... I have a Yamaha 30HP on my dingy (2-stroke) and took it to our dealer to have a starter motor fitted. It came back with a small 12v battery and starter motor which has never yet let me down. I also have a mean bilge pump on the dingy which pumps water and sand through a 1 inch hose and runs from the battery.

Yes, the 20hp and up have starter kits and charging kits available. A bilge pump is why I am interested in the charging kit.

Yeah LOL ... that bilge pump in my dingy has cost a lot of men some serious trouble when their woman step into a 'DRY dingy'.... you would be amazed at how many comments I get.
The other day we were on Deadman's Bay beach and had walked the island. Friends had done the same. When we got back they laughed at me as our boats were filled with water and sand ... laughed because of the sand and how useless the bilge pump would be.
I toggled the switch and literally pumped all the sand and water out no time at all. There they were scooping out the stuff with a cut coke bottle ... took them at least 30 minutes ...

Oh ... and I almost forgot ... I also power a small 12v compressor to keep the inflation topped up ... handy to have on the dingy as the compressors are small and the pipe easily stowed. I like the dingy to stay firm ... all powered by the same little battery
