Which Fuel /water separator for Yanmar 3YM20

Can someone recommend a model fuel water separator for use on the Yanmar 3YM20. Would the Racor 120 series be adequate?

Yes, the 120 will work fine, it's got 20+ times the flow of that engine.

I second that!

However you might want to install a double filter which would allow quick chnage over to a clean filter or at least have a vacuum gauge handle that can tell you when the filter need dirty and to be changed.

Hey thanks for the replies. It's nice to know I'm not alone when trying to work out the details of all the systems on a boat. In my case, it's a new build F-44SC cat. :F-44SC Catamaran.....getting close.

You might consider the Racor 500 series as well. Greater initial cost, but the replacement filters are about 1/2 the cost of the 120's and are readily available all over the world. Also, you don't need to bleed the system after replacing elements. I use them with the 2 micron filter element on my Nanni 3.30's, which helps make the secondary filters last longer. The replacement elements on the Racor 500 run about $11, whereas the secondary filters are around $30 and much more difficult to find.

Hey Thanks Mike, I;ll check into that. Also thanks for the encouraging words. It's been a long 6 year process but I plan on launching this summer. If the shake down cruises go well, we plan on taking an trial cruise with the family to see if we can transition the family into a cruising lifestyle.....we'll see.
